Conventional Halftone
Stochastic Screening

M&G puts vibrant color back into offset printing with stochastic screening.

You know that orange, green, or purple you envisioned in your design? Stochastic screening lets you see it in your final product.

With conventional halftone screening, a static grid of dots is used to approximate a photograph. The dots can only get bigger or smaller to create changes in color and contrast.

In stochastic screening, tiny dots are freely applied throughout the image to create color and contrast. More dots for darker areas, less dots in lighter areas. The concentration and color of the dots can be extensively manipulated to produce a huge range of hues and tones.

That means you get the colors you really want. You see textures and patterns pop. And printed images are closer to the original photos than ever before.

In fact, it’s pretty hard to tell a stochastic print from a photograph, especially those produced with the industry’s leader, the Staccato brand from Creo. And that’s what M&G uses.
